An early draw for Tomasz, but the other 7 games went just about the full distance. Cathal drew, having looked better earlier, while Shane eventually lost an 80-move epic. Patrick struggled from early, but had some chances along the way. Jim won well, but the other games could all have had better results. Brendan failed to find the draw that was there, Pat exchanged minor pieces instead of rooks and only drew, while John ignored the win of the exchange to continue his attack, but couldn't push through. So, it could have been 4.5 - 3.5 to us. We're comfortably mid-table, with an outside chance of promotion. Overall, they're averaging almost 85%. Cathal and Shane won readily, while John's opponent resigned when thinking he was losing a rook, although the R+P endgame was lost for him. Patrick broke through nicely, as did Pat, although he missed a quicker win. Good wins from Jim, Patrick (a nice endgame), Shane and Cathal. Tomasz took the draw in a double-edged position, while Brendan played steadily. Tomasz won on time (his opponent didn't help himself by arriving late, and then falling asleep a couple of times), while Jim went wrong late in an interesting Benko. Anthony went astray somewhere, but it wasn't obvious where. Good wins for Stephen, Shane and John, while Patrick drifted in an unexciting game. Cathal announced his return with a solid draw.
